In order to
run our agency as efficiently as possible, we often
rely on volunteers to help us out. Your volunteer
experience can be as small as an hour or two organizing
our on-site food pantry or as large as painting the
outside of our apartment or garage building. We are
able to accommodate individuals or groups of volunteers
who need to schedule their activity on a certain day
and will work with you to make the experience rewarding
for everyone involved. The following is a short list
of opportunities at each of our programs:
For our shelter program:
- Painting, cleaning and
refurbishing an apartment before a new family
moves in.
- Paint or refurbish the
outside of the facility
- Plant flowers or landscaping
- Throw a holiday or themed
party for the families at the shelter
- Conduct a food or supply
drive to stock our on-site food pantry
- Provide handyman services
- Conduct a life skills
class
For our childcare development
program:
- Deep cleaning for the
outside of the building such as window washing,
hosing off awnings, playground equipment and shade
covers.
- Be a volunteer reader
for circle time.
- Update or contribute to
our Children's library.
- Conduct a craft party
for the children.
If you have an idea in mind
that is not listed above, please don't hesitate
to contact us at (714) 774-8502 and ask for Ruth Shone. She will be available to hear your idea and
to assist you in planning for a one time volunteer
day or for an on-going volunteer relationship with
us and our families.
